Read this if you are still having a black screen issue!

It seems that a growing trend for users outside of the US is getting a black screen after some circumstances, and not getting video. Either after a preroll plays, or after the transcoder kicks in.

If you have these issues, please post in this thread, and do the following!

Attach the debug info from your stream when you see the problem! There is a secret button on the player found by clicking where the mouse is on this image!

The window you see in the picture should pop up, simply click it, and send the info over to Jacob, as well as any info you can give like when it happened, where you are from, and your account name!

I think a majority of these problems are already fixed, but just to play it safe, I'm going to ask everyone to bombard us with debug text so we can make sure it is still working for everyone!

  • Yeah I'm still having the problem on some streams and sent an email just now.
  • I've got a black screen on a stream, but other do not have it. There are people like me having it, I'm from the Netherlands. Is there an easy solution? (firts time happening today, I only have it at this particular stream: www.twitch.tv/pvpaslifestyle ) at the moment.

  • I'm also from the Netherlands and I've refreshed multiple times but the black screen persist. I have sent an e-mail. I will restart my computer and hopefully the black screen doesn't appear again...

    PS: I just closed my browser window (Chrome) and started an 'incognito' session and it helped; no more blackscreen. Though I do not know if the 'incognito' session is the reason why the blackscreen isn't returning.

    PPS: I was wrong: the black screen does persist, but only for 720p. Good thing I can select 1050p+ as well (and 480p and 360p), because those give a 'normal' video feed.

    after i have done the subscription for this cannel the
    change resolution button is gone and i cant see or hear annything

    i have tried firefox, IE and chrome all plugins are up
    to date

  • I am in the UK, and still cannot watch any video, I get either a black screen or a still image. Is there a fix?

    @biotics - If you are still having that issue, follow the steps above and send the information to Jacob. I don't know of any user-end fix at the moment.

  • Still black screens. Same thing happens with IE and firefox. Email sent.
  • I'm from the netherlands and i can watch any stream just fine but it has been happening a lot lately that all the streams i watch are nothing but black screens or a
    black screen on some quality options. This happens on streams with or without a quality option.

  • Hi there Im from the UK and Im having issues watching just twitch.tv/Gamebreakertv. All the other streams I have watched are fine just this one. If you could fix asap that could be great :) Needed for moderation needs

  • I am in Norway, and i can watch fine for like 5 sec, then i get either a black screen or a still image. Is there a fix for it that i can do on my part?

    even though I update all my flashes! I tried Chrome, and I tried Internet Explorer! Please help! I'm missing tonnes of broadcasts and i'm growing desperate!
  • hey udeep, I'm also using Singapore Singtel and I'm having the same problem. It might be a problem with singtel/singnet. ): Also, I have just emailed jacob@twitch.tv with the screenshot shown below as well.

  • Im having the problem with a black screen and I won't get a pop up as Horror said earlier in this post. 

    In Xsplit when I setup the channel and click broadcast nothing happends there's a red text at the top saying "Streaming Live - Juistin TV - username Viewers:0 Bitrate:60Kbps" in the screen area on Xsplit there is a black background with the text: "! Go to FILE menu to add your images, movies, web camera or screen caprute to this scene." but no streaming is happening. I can't even broadcast Local recordings.

  • Unfortunately, the problem still persists. It worked about a week ago but now it's back to telling me to download adobe flash player, which is quite ridiculous because I just updated it 5 seconds ago. :/

  • From Singapore, encounted the problem today...streams were working fine yesterday.
    It says "We're sorry, but we couldn't find the video stream!"
    Using latest version of Firefox and Adobe Flash player...
    Email sent.
    EDIT: Just to add, it's probably NOT a Singtel issue,
    as I have no problems with other streamsites like Ustream.
