How do i get my stream to fit the twitch.tv channel?

I use xsplit and when i stream my channel on twitch.tv it has black on the sides and does not take up the full screen. How do i get my stream on twitch.tv to to fill up the whole screen?

  • Stream at a widescreen (16:9) resolution and make sure you content is stretched to fit the entire preview window in XSplit.
  • How do i do this? does my tv have to be on widescreen? my tv is on 4:3 and once i added the screen region i stretched it out on xsplit but i still get black on the sides,
  • If you have a 4:3 source, you probably do not what to stretch it to 16:9 on the stream anyway. If you do, click on the source in XSplit > Setting > Position and then uncheck Keep aspect ratio.

A lot of people that stream 4:3 content might put some kind of graphic around the edges so it its just black.

Change your xsplit resolution under View->Resolution to anything with a 16:9 aspect ratio.  If you need help selecting what resolution might be right for you read part 4 of this guide http://gamercide.org/posts/a-guide-to-broadcasting-with-xsplit/.

But as bgeorge said you may not want to stretch 4:3 source material to 16:9.
