Livestream very choppy.

I was livestreaming something from my Xbox 360 and it went fine, then I decided to livestream Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas on the PC and it was quite choppy. When I was actually playing it I didn't have much lag but then I watched the livestream back a little bit later and it was really laggy, I don't think I should be having these problems because as far as I know I have a good enough PC to livestream something like GTA: SA.

Specs:
AMD FX-6100 3.3GHz Processor

16GB Ram

1TB Hard Drive

Nvidia GTX 560 Ti

Any help would be appreciated :)

Your stream settings would be helpful
  • XSplit Settings -

    Frame Rate: 25.0 Fps

    Screen Region Area: 1920 x 1080

    Justin/TwitchTV channel settings -

Anything else you need to know?

Stream settings include your bandwidth settings and Location setting :p

Also, do you have an example of your laggy stream?
  • Yeah I have some WWE '12 videos and San Andreas videos on my channel. WWE '12 isn't laggy at all but San Andreas was very laggy. My location was on Default even though I swear I changed it but now it's on London UK. The bandwidth test came out at 1028 Kbps which may be a little bit lower than usual because my Xbox is on and another PC is on.

Example: http://www.twitch.tv/cj1803cj/b/328779827 (Two of my friends said it lagged and another one said it isn't but when I looked it was laggy) ;)

  • Also, just noticed there was a yellow circle if that's what you need as well.

That really looks like dropped frames, which would be a bandwidth issue. What is your bitrate set to?
  • In video encoding on my Twitch channel properties it says VBV Max Bitrate (kbps): 1000 and VBV Buffer (kbit): 1000.
  • Also, if it's something to do with my internet I don't know why because I've just upgraded to about 40mbps Download and 15mbps Upload.

Yellow circle should normally be fine, not really sure what would be causing this if you're not dropping frames. It's always going to look a little bit choppy due to streaming at 25fps ( XSplit free limitation, can't really do anything about that ) , but that looks more like 15-20fps...

The most I could really suggest is changing your preset to Superfast, and making sure you're using the best Location ( Default is never the best )

  • Yeah I changed location but I'm not sure if I did a test after or before I changed it. I'll try changing it to superfast and see if it helps.
  • Thanks! So far it's working great! :D

Glad to be of assistance :) Note that you might get a better looking stream if you go for a resolution of 960x540 and up the quality to 10
