I would thoroughly love for this button to actually work. As of right now I press it repeatedly out of frustration while the ignored party continues to show up in my chat window.
Please fix it, it has been broken for at least a month.
Ignore will be coming back as soon as its added to the new chat servers. Right now the main concentration if is to fix some performance issues and more important feature such as the userlist.
Thanks for the update. Please remember though that Ignore can be the difference between Twitch being a feature-rich site where one can define their chat experience or a site where Internet trolls can freely spew and ruin gaming streams.
There's an ignore button in the chat. I tried using it, but it doesn't work. It turns to an "unignore" button but I still see comments by the people who are being ignored.
@Fire, sure. From a user's perspective rather than a developer's perspective there is an ignore function but it's broken. That's why your comment confused me. Cheers.
plainly i have lost hours and hours of sleep over this but.........i have had to reluctantly unfollow a channel and the person does come on various channels that i go on I have faith that physical evidence can be shown on here as to where exactly they are on getting this ignore button fixed, i can tell ya and speak for many many others i've spoke to wherei say that if this doesn't get fixed, the emotional well being of most broadcasters will be at stake, it already is creating uneccesary friction between me and some casters, and while i tried for a month to reason. i'm turning asside towards the twitch side to please speed up the process, and i really would like some honesty on what's going on, no scolding, no downplaying, just the facts....

bgeorge post said it all, its on the to-do list but there are high priority issues still being worked out.
ok well i think we need a more definite timeline. Like dylan at JTV does. the longer it's put off alot more unhappy campers there will be. i'm probably going to lose alot of viewers as a result. But i understand

I could not begin to tell you how true this is. There's one person in general who stalks me on the site and joins every chat I'm in just to troll me, and NEVER gets banned or timed out...
after tonight, im tired of these lil stalker trolls who have nothing better to do then to mess with us!!! Ignore button does not work, and this guy is making things worse than ever to stream. My mods and viewers are also affected. I've been with JTV/Twitch for 3 years ... and I've had it. FIX THE IGNORE PLZ!!!!????!!!! or at least post on your twitter when it is in fact fixed so I may return to streaming.
Wtf are you doing twitch, this has been broken for far too long and your only advantage over own3d was having a better chat which without ignore you barely have.
User list is more important than ignore? Gotta disagree. I find (or would find) ignore quite useful, almost essential, but for me the user list isn't ever used.

Well, the user list is want allows mods to exist in a channel. Its not simply for listing the users in a channel. If the user list was not working, mods would not have their icons and would not get the timeout and ban options on any channels which is a huge problem.
why is this not implemented yet? it takes months to implement an ignore function? Maybe you should hire some more programmers and less community managers?
Good news! This feature has been re-implemented, and is currently working on our beta site: beta.twitch.tv
Ignore lists are persistent, so if you ignore a user, you will not receive messages from them on any channel going forward. There is no current way to manage the list of people you ignored, but this may be added if it is deemed necessary.
If everything looks good after this weekend, we will slowly roll this out next week to our production website.

Looking awesome so far, good job on getting it back into play. I'm sure there are a LOT of thankful users including myself.
