Pls develop a Samsung Smart TV app!

I would love to find a Justin.tv app on the Samsung Smart TV app store.
Are there any plans about developing something in that direction?

  • Yeah that would be totally awesome! The built-in browser can handle flash, but fails on twitch.tv :(

The reason the built-in browser for most Android/SmartTV's can't handle Twitch.TV is because broadcasters sometime stream in really high def which can bog down Android's browser a lot, like, the lowest setting (240p) may even bog it down a bit.

There is an Android app in the works for Twitch.tv though. But currently no ETA.
  • There is already an justin.tv app on the android market. Not an official though. It's called "J PLayer".
But i would rly love to see a Samsung Smart TV app in the future. Atm im watching twitch via the hdmi cable connected to my pc. But i would like to have the option to watch it without my pc running....

  • Most TV CPUs are well fast enough to handle  1080p stream :P
So any smart TV can have an app made for it. We did see the poll not too long ago about that so maybe we will get one sooner or later, or for xbox/ps3!

Now for cellphones, the TOP tier (american models) have just the amount of speed needed to stream 1080p, provided you are on UMTS, HSPA, HSPA+, LTE, wiMax, or wifi.
The other lower high end phones can handle 720p pretty well, provided you are on 3g+
And stuff like a black berry curve, of older tmobile wing, or G1 phones can't really do 720p that well.

And it costs money for justin.tv to lower the quality of streams for people, so they wont be able do that for everyone, only partners.

  • I also approve of samsung smart tv app.
I'm sure there would be alot of interest in samsung and lg smart tv apps.

I find myself always wanting to put sc2 streams up on my tv but cannot. Especially if twitch continues to broadcast gsl. :)
  • Agree! I'd love to see streams directly on tv. please please please

Twitch tweeted a picture of an Android app on Twitch, so I could imagine it's coming soon. That is if Samsung TV runs om Android, not sure if it does or not.
  • I recently discovered that there is a Ustream app available in the Samsung Smart Tv Store.
That puts some pressure towards Twitch.tv/Justin.tv. I hope this will lead to a faster Twitch.tv app development.
It's no big deal to make that little app. Every Android app developer should be able to build one in a few days.

Rly looking forward to this app.
  • +1 potential user if there was a Twitch.tv app for Samsungs Smart TV
  • My application Stream Player for TwitchTV did handle 720p, didn't use flash and worked fine on any Android supported device, but got deleted from the Android Market. Seems like JustinTV/TwitchTV doesn't like competition.

@walleandsome if you had twitch or justin anywhere on it you infringed on copyright, you'd have to contact them first and ask for permission.

Make this happen please! Heck, I'd even buy a new TV if need be ;p
  • Please no news about an app for samsung smarts tv?

  • I can watch twitch.tv on Samsung ES6100 Browser, but only on 360p , not sure why i can't go for 720+ or 1080p? :/
  • PLEASE OH PLEASE make an app for samsung smart tv.

Tried my hardest this weekend for IPLLOL5 streaming and the web browser works for about 3 seconds and then dies.

An App would be perfect and i could watch the streaming all night from the comfort of my bed.

    Any news on this????
  • +1 that would be awesome!
  • For some reason, since a week or so, i have been able to change the quality of the stream. But only if i am on the stream+chat window, and fullscreen. But now, sound doesn't work for me 90% of the time. The other 10%, i get full hd and sound. Weird to say the least. Anyone else getting the same thing?

And yeah .. app would be nice

  • I have to agree, an App would be so easy to develop and so awesome for a lot of people.

Watching SC2 HD streams on a 46" TV without the hassle of connection an external device sounds so cool.
  • Ok .. i think i have it figured out. just so we are clear, i have an es5500 smart tv with latest firmware installed and this seems to be working for me almost always on 720p (sometimes on 720p+ or 1080p+). These steps might sound weird, but after long hours of trying, this is how i got best results:

    - you have to be on the twitch channel page (the one with chat)

    - hide chat

    - to go fullscreen double click spam on the video. When fullscreen, you can adjust the quality, play, pause, adjust volume etc

    - play stream

    - if stream or sound does not work properly, before i refresh the site, i go in browser settings -> general -> delete browser data. Then i refresh.

This works almost always for me. If not, rinse and repeat. I stopped bothering with 720p+ and 1080p+ because sound almost never comes through. And if you are not hugging your tv, 720p is decent enough.

Hope i was of some help.

I found a solution to this. I have a Samsung UE46ES7005U. Now to the solution,

If you want to watch Wickd's lolstream for example.

Instead of going to Twitch.tv and selecting Wickd stream, you go directly to it throught the adressfield,

But instead of typing http://en.twitch.tv/wickd , you add /popout at the end, like this:

Now just spam the screen with your remote a few times and you should go into no border fullscreen, from here, you can change quality, pause, volume, etc. Without any problem.

So, add /popout at the end of the streamname..

    Awesome :)
