Help, I'm Banned!

JacobJacob Administrator

How do I get an account suspension lifted?

To contest an account suspension, please contact us at help@twitch.tv with the name of the banned account, as well as the reason you believe you were suspended.

If your account suspension was found to be in error, we will contact you back within seven business days notifying you of your account restoration. If you know your channel has been closed for copyright, we cannot and will not lift your suspension.

Why are accounts suspended?

Accounts are suspended for violations of our Terms of Service

Common reasons for account suspensions are as follows:

  • Sexually Explicit Material: Nudity and other forms of sexually explicit material is not allowed. Violations of these types will end in permanent suspension.
  • Copyright: We will respond to clear and complete notices of alleged copyright infringement. Our copyright procedures are set forth in the DMCA Guidelines.
  • Spamming: Spam comes in all types of different forms. The most common form of spam on Twitch.tv is linking URLs for viewers to watch live content outside of the Twitch.tv service.
  • Impersonation: You may not impersonate others through the Twitch.tv service in a manner that does or is intended to mislead, confuse, or deceive others.
  • Trademark: We reserve the right to reclaim user names on behalf of businesses or individuals that hold legal claim or trademark on those user names. Accounts using business names and/or logos to mislead others will be permanently suspended.
  • Privacy: You may not publish or post other people's private and confidential information, such as credit card numbers, street address or Social Security/National Identity numbers, without their express authorization and permission.
  • Violence and Threats: You may not publish or post direct, specific threats of violence against others.
  • Unlawful Use: You may not use our service for any unlawful purposes or for promotion of illegal activities. International users agree to comply with all local laws regarding online conduct and acceptable content.
  • And other Twitch.tv specific policies, that are discussed in the Policy Forum.

Note: If you are connecting from an open Proxy, it may show you that you have been blocked from using Twitch.tv. Many open proxies have been blocked due to users abusing our Terms of Service from these proxies. We will not unblock these proxies from our site. It is recommended you do not use these services to connect to Twitch.tv.
