Ignore function not working?

Ignoring someone in chat doesn't seem to work?

Also, why isn't there an auto-ignore function for all the tools that just spam "dat noob", "dat play", "dat etc"?

/ignore has not been implemented in the new chat system yet.
  • Please implement it soon. It's a pretty important feature.
  • As a workaround, you can set 'dat noob' etc. in your filtered word list in chat. It wont silence/ban those who speak it, but it will censor the words themselves.
  • Is it implemented yet? Because it's still not working for me and I'd at least like the option removed from people's names so I can know it's not working.

    No, it's still not implemented.
  • SO YEAH! Going on the 4th month and still no fixes.. . .. (Typical of Jtv)  Any idea when you guys will implement some /commands for the audience/viewers.  Just like someone said before, the /Ignore feature is a very useful command.  so please FIX IT!

I guess I will check back in 4 months, with my expectations lower than they were when arriving here, cause I know this sh*t won't be fixed. . . ..  will it?

  • Keep in mind that moderators and admins are volunteer positions and usually pass on information to staff. It is a known issue that needs to be fixed, but it is not as high priority as making sure that streams are running, and that the site stability is up. New chat (that was much faster/less buggy) was only implemented a few month(s) ago, and is still being worked with.

TL;DR Still being worked on, yes staff know, no there hasn't been an ETA. If you have a problem with certain chatters in a channel, I suggest contacting the broadcaster to have them mod the channel.

Certain channels already have moderators that handle the issues of Timing Out/Banning people, that ISN'T the issue right now. People spamming slurs, profanity, staff faces, CAPS, attention whores, etc. . .  some get a time out or ban, good for them.  Now I'm sure most of us would like the option of ignoring these said people, so we don't have to read the comments from these people again.  It isn't a "mod or broadcasters" problem that I want to ignore certain viewers.

In the end, it's pretty simple.  It shouldn't take  4+ months to implement a few commands (let alone one) for chat  I'm all about making Twitch/Jtv better, but the clutter of chat bugs and site issues is rather pathetic. . . (even for a free site)  before this "updated" Twtich, Jtv wasn't much better. . .

So now we wait until one person passes the word to the next person. Great bug/problem reporting techniques btw. . . . you pass on the word to a "moderator" and then have him/her pass it on to a "staff" member. .  its like tag.

For the record, we havent been spending 4+ months to add the ignore feature, for now we have been working on stability.

I'm sure you have noticed that the chat has been running into some issues that our devs have been tackling, and since it's getting better, that is indeed a good thing! It's also made us change our approach to chat features.

Just a small update, there will be a different person working on chat features now, leaving the original dev to work on stability since doing both is a bit of a hassle. I wont go into detail, in fact I'm not sure if telling you that much is very appropriate! I just want to make it clear it's not like we built the chat, then walked away from it! :P

Features like 'ignore' are high on the "to be added" list, as well as a few crazy new ideas we have had that we came up with durring some group brainstorming. I know so far everyone has been a bit annoyed missing things like "ignore" or "invite", but I assure you we are very aware, and they are high on the list. Until now, the focus has just been making sure the chat will continue to work, and ignore function isn't very useful if you can't see anyone in chat :P

Thanks for the reply Admin .. .

Op made this post in May, when the Twitch site updated?(around that time) Correct?  So ya, this is going on the 4th month without working commands/chat features.  I said "commands" not just ignore.  You say stability, I assume you mean the "WoW, LoL, MLG, Starcraft 20k viewer channels" need to be stable before any other issues are brought into attention? -sigh-

Well again, thanks for the. . . tale.  I guess I will see about getting in touch with the maker of Better Twitch Extension and see if he can actually just implement the features you guys took away. Will probably get a bit farther in a shorter time, with much greater results. . .  .
