IRC and Webchat are not in sync at all - doesnt look like this is even remotely "stable" as was claimed. Not good. I will email what I am about to post
IRC chat:
[Sat, Apr 21, 2012 - 16:06:19] <@jsauce2> just so you know, if you are in irc and chatting, people on the web chat may not be seeing it
[Sat, Apr 21, 2012 - 16:06:46] <@jsauce2> i.e. you might have been talking to yourself for a while
[Sat, Apr 21, 2012 - 16:07:22] <@jsauce2> for instance, jackula I can't see your chats in the web chat but i can see them in irc
[Sat, Apr 21, 2012 - 16:07:38] <synt> you asked jackula if he could see what you wrote
[Sat, Apr 21, 2012 - 16:07:46] <jackula8> yeah i saw that 1 line
[Sat, Apr 21, 2012 - 16:08:09] <jackula8> prior to that jsauce was quiet
[Sat, Apr 21, 2012 - 16:08:15] <@jsauce2> its so damn random
[Sat, Apr 21, 2012 - 16:08:26] <@jsauce2> i assure you i wasn't quiet
[Sat, Apr 21, 2012 - 16:08:33] <nhutchen> why can't we see cat's LoL client?
Same timeframe and what not, WEB chat:
» just so you know, if you are in irc and chatting, people on the web chat may not be seeing it
» i.e. you might have been talking to yourself for a while
» for instance, jackula I can't see your chats in the web chat but i can see them in irc
» its so damn random
» i assure you i wasn't quiet
4:08 Nhutchen: why can't we see cat's LoL client?
4:08 Mod Jsauce2: just realized the chat isn't in sync again
» cabin in the woods is pretty awesome
» Joss Whedon is awesome
Note that SYNT and jackula8 text is in IRC, but not web chat - this happens randomly and in both directoins. It could be webchat getting it and IRC not, or IRC getting it and Web not. GG
Yeah now im getting "You need to join the room before you can talk in it." and "No such channel." and sometimes I get told I am sending messages too fast even if they are pretty far apart, more than 10 seconds at least
@fire - sorry if I came across as feeling like this should be "more" than a beta - that was not the point. As I said, I would be emailing that to the bug report email address as well, because it is, as you said, a bug report.
Meh about the stability vs usability. Technicalities =)
Twitch.tv staff, viewers, and streamers all know the chat is having major issues currently. Do we know if progress is being made, when the problem could be fixed by, ectra. Every hour my chat restarts. 10 mins out of every hour my chat is back down. The issue may be when a chat restarts, jtv server has to give channel operator status to all of the mods (even thos offline) which is strange. Before these problems began occuring it only gave operator status to those who are inside the channel. I am glad to see that twitch.tv staff is working on the issue and Horror makes a excellent point why the beta is important. The sad part is that many people's chats are normal and only have a few hicups and others have major issues like myself. (it was so bad I had to just send viewers to my own irc channel).
Sorry for adding more headaches to the twitch staff, but all of the above. I'm sure y'all are working hard to fix the problem, but please work faster. thank you.
There's a lot of inconsistencies with the current chat. Sometimes the things I type doesn't go through, sometimes it does. Sometimes people type stuff to me and I can't see it but I can only see it on stream. It's very weird, don't know if anyone else is experiencing this.
i can't believe this a week in and the chat's still broken. constantly spamming welcome messages, i keep getting "you must be in a channel to chat", and "no such channel". When I refresh the chat takes at least 2-3 minutes to actually load on top of that. Do I have to just go broadcast elsewhere until this is fixed?? (ಠ_ಠ)
This chat has been broken for over a week, a long time. Not good at all. It would be one thing if it were temporary, but the fact that one of the main features of the site has not been functional for this long is ridiculous.
There are several streams I watch and follow, and it is troublesome to communicate with the broadcaster or the viewers because of this.
How do I remove this thing, I'm 34 years old and not only am I an advocate of free speech but I am old enough to hear or read whatever I want without someone telling me I can't. I checked the options and was unable to find anything that allowed me to remove this nonsense chatswear filter you have now suddenly installed for me. So if you could please instruct me on how to do this, it would be much appreciated.
Quoting Horror: "The old chat one is a bug since it cant be turned off, and the one on chat beta is us building the new chat filter. There is still no option to turn it off but we are working on it. At the very least it doesn't have stupid words like "link" and "spam" banned anymore. Only actual offensive, and curse words
Not to be a jerk about this, but having been a programmer for a long time, I normally wouldn't impliment any such feature that didn't have an off switch already included. It makes little sense to do so, and just further annoys the people who have had to put up with all the recent chat issues that have plagued JTV/Twitch. Also I should point out its not a very good chat filter at that, as I've already found words that most would consider offensive that I can use. In, fact while I don't want to point out exactly how easy it is to defeat the swear filter just know that almost any swear can get through if you know how to.

The fact is that it is censorship - censorship that I was not informed of, not consulted on, and cannot turn off.
I am against censorship of any kind. This is hands down censorship - no excuses, no "we will implement it in a later update', no words or anything else can excuse this. You are implementing censorship on your channels without your partner providers input, consent, or ability to remove said censorship.
I dont give a rats ass why it is there. I do not care that it will be "back to normal" later. I do not want to hear excuses - I want the censorship gone, now.
Also - havokk - this is not an overreaction. Not even remotely.
I want my chat to be on Quakenet from this moment forward. I do not care that I wont have the "extras" from the twitch chat - I dont care that I lose "capabilities" - I want my chat the way I want my chat. Who do I have to talk to in order to get this implemented, because I am done with the chat issues. Done.

So I should NOT tell the streamer he HAS to change over to IRC beta in order to get chat to work?
Chat is very bad last ~half of a month.
No such channel." wtf?!

I seriously hope this is taken care of soon.
I had message(s) I typed in the "justin.jtvirc" chat not show up on the html chat because my name was logged in "twice".
I guess if you log in IRC log. one should log out of the website chatroom.
You are indeed doing just that, over reacting. And you need to stop.
We are doing our best to build that chat as quickly as possible, and freaking out over something so entirely small is not needed.
