Stream lagging for viewer during Live broadcast, not in vod

I heard that you throttle back non-partners. The only area this has been a problem for is bandwidth between me and twitch server. For example I had to switch from your servers with low ping in Texas to one near the east coast with higher ping or I would get a red bandwidth indicator sometimes in OBS. But now I just found out there may be some possible throttling between the twitch servers and viewers. I had green status for bandwidth the whole time but this guy said it stuttered badly for him. When he views the video of past broadcast it looks fine. Is this just my stream getting nerfed between your servers and him because I'm not partnered? This is not an isolated incident he has checking into my channel each day for a couple of weeks hoping it would stop lagging. He said when he first started following me it didn't lag at all. His system and ISP bandwidth are both good, but he's in Norway if that matters. (possibly throttling between twitch servers and Norway?) The reason it occurred to me perhaps I'm getting throttled is because he watches AUI_2000 who streams 1080p 60fps just fine and is partnered but he gets lag watching my 1080p 30fps stream.

Loading ad problem on streams

Hi, every time I click on someone to watch them, I only get a few seconds of viewing them and then "loading ad" pops up and nothing loads, below "loading ads" is a remove this ad link and if I click that link then I can hear them but there still greyed out almost to a black screen.

I know that an ad should load just after a few seconds of viewing them, but the whole "loading ad remove this ad" thing doesent go away.

Anyone else have this problem, I tired printing a screen shot of the problem but my computer wont let me and idk if I can even do that

IRC Servers suddenly fail

As of a few days ago, attempting to connect to any of the jtvirc servers gives:

[03:50:17] Socket closed by remote peer

[03:50:17] Disconnected

I've tried it on two different clients, so it's not the case that my client just magically started trying to use the CAP extension -- apparently Twitch has just suddenly stopped supporting it, which breaks all the major OS X clients.

Any known workarounds for this?

So recently I have been testing ffsplit and xsplit(capped on 30fps) and with both i get really laggy stream, but later in the VoD its still laggy but way less (and the black screen is gone)

PC specs:

Windows 7 pro
M4A78LT
AMD Athlon 2 X4 640 3.01GHZ
12GB RAM Corsair DDR3 1333
Nvidia GTX 560 1GB

FFsplit settings

video source: FFsource
audio: default

Encode setting:

bit rate 2000
video encode preset medium (maybe this is the problem)
video resolution 1280x720 (game screen is 1920x1080)
video frame rate 60
audio bit rate 128
audio channel stereo

streaming to Amsterdam NL

(note the upload is normally the same as download, when this test was taken there was allot of uploads going on. Stream was done in low upload hours so 29,40MB/s upload at that time)

results from a recent session

Length 38s
dropped frames 2701
avg frame rate 13 fps
current bit rate 133kbits
bandwidth used 948KB (also one of the culprits i think)

I hope someone can give me some tips in settings or maybe using a different stream application

massive stream lag over 480p?

hi, im having massive lag when watching. not broadcasting streams over 480p. it just started to happen recently in the past 3days. nothing has changed that i know of. im in the west coast los angeles area. i get 50down/ 5 up with pretty good connection. i am also hardwired in.

also my computer is pretty good too. never had any problems watching 1080ps before. i can also stream in 720 if i want to. i have noticed this problem only on twitch. i tested it on owned to see if i had it there, but it was fine there. soo is something wrong with the twitch servers in my area or what?

Hi, i have a little problem, when im moderator of some stream, i time ban the user, and the message do not send to me, and user is still on chat, where is the problem? In the begin of stream it works, and in end not. Why?

Time to time stream lag

Sometimes when I watch a stream in 1080p it lags sometime, like the audio keeps running, but the video stops for 5 seconds and it happens every now and then. I have a 16/mbit download and I've been able to watch 1080p streams like streaming a movie or YouTube you know, but it's really annoying hope someone has a fix or maybe my connection is just too bad.

I am having problems with streaming an Elgato capture card on xbox. I have astro a40s and even when I just record gameplay I can't hear my own voice. I don't know how to set it up so I can hear my voice as well. The problem is I cant stream in 720p. The picture is really blurry and lags. Do I have to upgrade my internet to? Right now I have less then 1mbps upload speed. I am trying to stream on a MacBook Pro with a processor of 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7. Could someone help me so i can get this figured out?

Twitch tv app freezing

Hi this is a really frustrating issue im having with the twitch tv app on my iphone 5. It currently loads the app fine then when i click any stream on any quality it has a cycle of playing for about 10-15 seconds then freezing for about 20seconds to 1 minute then keeps freezing over and over. This has been going on since after the update with the quality crashes. Now you might say its my wifi but its not i currently loaded the app on my ipad and iphone 4s and both work fine on any quality on the same wifi network as my iphone 5. Ive seen other people posting in the reviews on the app store stating its freezing on them as well so im hoping twitch devs are aware of the issue and getting a fix for it? Because i really miss being able to use the app on my phone. I sent a email in the other day and thought i'd post on here as well to seek some help or address the issue, thanks again.

IP Global Ban?

Ever since i got my new router and internet setup at my house i can only chat in a few select streams that i enjoy watching .Every other stream i go into that i watch every so often i cant talk in the chatroom I am not banned from the channels the twitch servers will not register as I am talking .Is there any way the twitch staff can look into this and tell me if I got a Global IP Ban? please this is kinda making me mad and making me not want to watch streams if I can't talk in stream chats .

Chat messages delayed

I have two chats open and since yesterday most (not all) of my messages either do not show up in chat, or are delayed by 10-30 seconds.

Doesn't matter if I use the web chat or irc.

My connection is stable.

Others do not seem to be having these issues.

This is making moderating really challenging, what can I do?

I thought this was for partners only. I also thought that lower quality selection came on all partners' channels. I recently found a guy with no quality selection option but he did have a subscribe button. It should be mentioned he's partnered for being a pro-player not for massive amounts of viewers so that may be why. I guess what would make the most sense is perhaps he has the ability to disable quality selection? No idea why he would disable that though.

Change language no matter where you are

Hi!

There is always a problem with the language. I live in Germany and when I click on a link like twitch.tv I get redirected to de.twitch.tv and the language changed to german.
The "Change language" doesn't help cause when I click a link after it I get redirected again to the german page.
It's possible to put manually the "en" before twitch.tv to have it in english but that's not a solution when clicking links.

Why the terrible iPad app?

Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, and Youtube all work flawlessly on my 2nd gen iPad. On the twitch.tv app, however, I'm lucky if I get any video at all! (It's usually just black screen with working audio.) When the video does come through, it's extremely low resolution and often has a bizarrely low framerate. I've tried updating, reinstalling, restarting the iPad, and nothing helps.

Is there some trick to making the iPad app work or is it just trash? The web viewer seems to work great, but I'm not always sitting in front of my PC!

Eventually found out that it was cookie related, having firefox set to "Ask me everytime" causes it.
I've simply just put up with it hoping it would be fixed eventually.

However with the new page, with the same settings, nothing works, chat and video do not load and the left sidebar doesn't work at all.

Still getting the same error in the web console:

I'm trying to watch my friend stream and his stream is lagging for me and me only, everyone else watching it says it streams smoothly, but for me it pauses every now and then for seconds at a time and builds a delay.

Is it possible to shift the panels to the left or right? All down the middle taking up 3 times the space needed is pretty ermmm.. fail. But its still beta so I understand. Being able to change the font size in the text above the panel would be nice too. It might be possible, but I noticed it doesn't say you can use Markdown t here as in the text below panels.

Constant black screen on every twitch channel

Whenever I load up a streams - any stream - the screen stays black with no audio. When I pause the stream, I'll see the thumbnail, but when I unpause, I only see the red "Live" with number of viewers in the upper right hand corner.

Sometimes the stream will work when I have it unpaused and the streamer restarts their stream. But otherwise, it just stays black.

I've deleted all cookies for twitch, cleared all local storage data, and my flash is completely up to date. I'm using the most up to date Firefox browser.

How can I fix this so I can get back to watching streams?
